In the summer, the exterior heat invades your home through your attic.
In the winter, your interior heat leaves the house through your attic.

Next time it snows... ( I know - this is the South, it doesn't snow that much )...
look at your neighbor's roofs and yours.
The roofs where the snow melts almost immediately - they don't have good insulation in their attic.
The heat from their home is melting the snow almost as fast as the snow melts on the ground.
How does your roof look after a snow or a heavy frost?

Attic entrances are a large source of
home energy loss.
The attic opening, fold-down stair or doorway,
and/or knee wall doors are usually
not properly sealed against air infiltration,
causing a waste of energy
in both hot, and cold weather.

Did you know that your electrical outlets and light switches transfer heat too?
Most sockets don't have insulation behind them providing the perfect environment for
heat to come in (summer) and
leave (winter) your home.

Touch your tank!
Insulating a water heater that is
warm to the touch
can cut standby heat losses by 25%-45%
and save you 7%-16% annually
on your water heating bill.*
When NASA wanted to go to the moon...
They had to find a material that would
keep the astronauts protected from
the extreme temperatures on
the light side (260 degrees Fahrenheit)
and
dark side (-280 degrees Fahrenheit) of the moon.
They accomplished this by
using solar reflective material....
NCIS Energy will do the same for your attic.

Light Box Test:
This simple demonstration helps to show the effect that solar reflective material has when applied to the outside of the regular insulation.
Both sides have R-30 fiberglass insulation with 75 Watt lamps shining on them. The left side of the box has a single sheet of solar reflective material laid on top of the insulation. You can see how much radiant heat has been blocked by the thermometers on each side. The right side without the solar reflective material reads a temperature of over 120™F, while the side with solar reflective material only reads 88.7™F.
To produce a clear image, the lights were turned off just before the picture was taken.
